How to report a scammer on TikTok: a 4-step ladder from the Report button to your bank

To report a scammer on TikTok, open the account, video, LIVE or message, tap Report and choose the fraud and scams reason. Add what was promised and what you paid. TikTok has no scam phone line or report email, so treat any 'support number' as suspect. If money is gone, call your bank and file with the FTC.

Most people searching this have already lost something. A deposit for a phone that never shipped. A "mentor" who took a fee and went quiet. A LIVE host who sold gift-card codes that didn't work. The report button is only the first rung. This page treats it as a ladder with four steps: report inside TikTok, use the web form when the app won't cooperate, ignore anyone selling a TikTok "hotline", and then go after the money through the people who can actually move it, which is your bank and the authorities.

Which of the TikTok frauds and scams hit you?

Start by naming the scam, because it decides where the report goes and whether any money comes back. TikTok frauds and scams fall under its rules on regulated and commercial activity; the version that took effect in September 2026 bars attempts to scam, trick or defraud users and names fake investment offers, get-rich-quick schemes, phishing, identity theft and money muling.

TikTok fraud and scams on a creator's own face are a separate problem. If the scam account copies a real person, report the impersonation as well, the same way stopping someone impersonating you on Instagram works on Meta's side.

How do you report a scammer on TikTok from the app?

Report the exact thing that carried the scam. TikTok's reporting page says you can report any post, comment, account, direct message or LIVE that breaks its Community Guidelines, and each one has its own menu:

  1. The account: open the profile, tap the share arrow or the three dots, choose Report, then Report account and the fraud reason.
  2. A video: press and hold on the video, tap Report, then pick Frauds and scams. TikTok's own scam guidance from March 2025 describes this same press-and-hold path.
  3. A LIVE: tap the share or more icon during the stream and report it there. Once the LIVE ends, report the host's account instead.
  4. A direct message: press and hold the message, choose Report, and select the messages that show the request for money.
  5. A comment: press and hold it and report. Scam links often hide in replies under popular videos.

So how do I report a scammer on TikTok who used all five? File each one. A report on the account doesn't automatically bring the DMs into the review, and the messages are usually the best proof you have.

How to report a scam on TikTok Shop when the order never came

Use the order, not the seller's videos. In the app, open your Shop orders, pick the order and request a return or refund, choosing the reason that matches: not received, counterfeit or not as described. If the seller refuses, the order page lets you escalate to TikTok for a decision. Refund windows differ by country and order type, so check the date on your order before it lapses.

The catch is payment. Shop protection covers what you paid at TikTok checkout. If the seller talked you into a bank transfer, a payment app or a separate website "for a discount", TikTok can't reverse that. Report the seller's account for fraud anyway, then treat the money as a bank matter (below). Fake shops also lift brand names and product photos; the brand owner's route is a trademark complaint, similar to filing a trademark infringement report on X, and stolen product videos go through copyright, as in a DMCA takedown on X.

Is there a TikTok scammer report online form?

Yes. TikTok runs an online Report a problem form where you pick a topic, such as a potential violation, describe the issue and paste the links. It's the TikTok scammer report online option when the app crashes, the scammer blocked you, or you're reporting from a laptop. Inside the app the same thing lives under Profile, Settings and privacy, Report a problem. Anyone who typed how to report TikTok scam from a desktop browser lands here sooner or later.

Keep the form short and factual: the profile URL, the video or LIVE link, the date, the amount and how you paid. A form entry is read by a person or a classifier that has never seen your chat. If the story needs three paragraphs to make sense, it won't be acted on as quickly as one that says who, what, how much and where the proof is.

TikTok scammer report number or email: does either exist?

No. TikTok doesn't publish a phone line for reporting scams, and there's no public inbox for a TikTok scammer report email either. Reporting runs through the app and TikTok's own web forms. Look up how to report scam on TikTok by phone and the ads start immediately. Any site or ad that hands you a "TikTok scammer report number" is at best a reseller and at worst the second half of the scam.

When we checked TikTok's help pages for this guide on 28 October 2026, we saw the old support addresses quietly redirect to new ones inside tiktok.com, while a plain search for a TikTok customer service number returned third-party pages listing phone numbers that TikTok itself never mentions. That gap is what recovery scammers live in. They answer the call, ask for your login code "to verify the report", or charge a fee to "escalate" it. TikTok's March 2025 scam guidance tells users to verify the phone number, email address or URL behind any request claiming to be support, and its shortest line is the best one: when in doubt, don't engage.

How to report fraud on TikTok when the money has already gone

Call your bank or card issuer the same day. A TikTok ban removes the account; it does not return a cent. Card payments can often be disputed as fraud or non-delivery, and bank transfers sometimes can be recalled if you move fast. Ask for the fraud team, give them the date, amount and recipient, and ask what reference number to quote.

Then report outside TikTok. In the US, file at the FTC's ReportFraud site, and add the FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center when crypto or a large sum is involved. The scale explains why these agencies care: the FTC's April 2026 Data Spotlight found that nearly 30% of people who reported losing money to a scam in 2025 said it began on social media, with $2.1 billion in reported losses, and investment scams alone accounted for $1.1 billion. Outside the US, your national police fraud line or consumer agency plays the same role. A police or agency reference number also makes a bank dispute easier to win.

What should you save before reporting TikTok scammers?

Save everything before you report, because a removed account takes its videos and some messages with it. Knowing how to report TikTok scammers matters less than having the proof ready; TikTok scam reporting goes faster with this list in hand:

  1. The profile URL and @username, copied as text, not only a screenshot.
  2. Screenshots of the DMs that show the offer, the price and the payment instructions.
  3. The video or LIVE link, plus a screen recording if the LIVE is still running.
  4. Payment proof: receipt, transaction ID, wallet address or bank reference.
  5. Any second channel they moved you to, with that username.

Store copies off your phone. If you're unsure whether a message counts as evidence, keep it; deleting is the one step you can't reverse.

What happens after you report a TikTok scam?

TikTok reviews the item against its guidelines and may remove the content, restrict the account or ban it. You can follow the outcome under Profile, Settings and privacy, Support, Safety Center, Report records, and TikTok may also post an update to your inbox. It won't tell you what happened to the account in detail, and it won't tell the scammer who reported them. The same is true on Meta's apps, as explained in whether someone knows you reported them on Instagram.

Reported the wrong profile in a hurry? A report that finds no violation simply closes, much as taking back a report on Instagram isn't really possible either. And if the scammer turns nasty after being blocked, that is harassment, a separate report: reporting harassment on Instagram covers the pattern if they follow you there.

Why does a scam report sometimes come back "no violation"?

Usually because the item reported didn't show the scam. A cheerful product video looks fine on its own; the fraud sat in the DMs or on an outside payment page. Report the messages that carry the price and the payment request, and say in the note that goods were paid for and never sent. Non-delivery on its own can read like a customer-service dispute, so the report has to show deception: fake tracking, a vanished account, the same pitch to many buyers.

The scammer moved you to Telegram, Instagram or X

Most TikTok scams don't finish on TikTok. The pitch happens in a video, then the "manager" asks you to continue on Telegram or WhatsApp, where TikTok can't see the chat. Report both ends. The Instagram version of this playbook is in how to report a scammer on Instagram, and threats to leak intimate images are covered in reporting blackmail on Instagram.

Telegram Ban Service handles the Telegram side through Telegram's own Report button, @notoscam and abuse@telegram.org. A channel that has been restricted often shows a "this channel can't be displayed" notice, which this channel cannot be displayed on Telegram explains. Some TikTok "investment" pitches now push rare Telegram handles as assets; the real marketplace is described in how the Telegram username market works. On X, a fake profile using your name goes through reporting impersonation on X, a scammer posting your address through reporting doxxing on X, and an account that keeps returning under new names is the case for an X account removal service. Report tiktok scam accounts first, though: the original profile is where most victims find it.

FAQ

Will the scammer know I reported them on TikTok?

No. TikTok doesn't tell an account who reported it. The scammer may notice their videos or profile disappearing, but your name isn't attached to the decision.

Can I report a TikTok scammer if they blocked me?

Yes. Use TikTok's online Report a problem form with the profile URL, or report from another device where you can still open the profile. Save the URL as text before they block you.

Does TikTok refund money lost to a scammer?

Only for TikTok Shop orders paid at TikTok checkout, through the order's return and refund request. Money sent by bank transfer, payment app, crypto or an outside website has to be disputed with your bank or provider.

Someone says they're TikTok support and wants my login code. Is it real?

Treat it as a scam. TikTok support doesn't need your code to process a report. Don't reply, report the account for impersonation, and change your password if you already shared anything.

How long does a TikTok scam report take?

There's no fixed timeline. Check Report records in the Safety Center under Settings and privacy, Support. Clear evidence in the first report helps more than filing the same report again.

Is reporting TikTok fraud and scams the same as reporting impersonation?

No. Fraud and scams covers someone trying to take your money or data. Impersonation covers an account pretending to be a real person or brand. A fake account selling goods under a creator's name can break both, so file both reasons.

Can I report a TikTok scam ad?

Yes. Sponsored videos carry the same Report option as ordinary posts: press and hold, tap Report and pick the fraud reason. Mention in the note that it was an ad, since ads go through their own review.

Should I also report a TikTok scam to the police?

If you lost money or were threatened, yes. A police or FTC reference number supports a bank dispute, and in the US the FBI's IC3 takes larger and crypto losses.
