How to report a fake TikTok account from your phone or the web
To report a fake TikTok account, open the profile, tap the Share arrow, then Report and Report account, and pick the reason that fits: Pretending to be someone, Fraud and scams, or Spam. On a computer use the three-dot menu. With no TikTok login, the web feedback form takes the profile link instead.
"Fake" covers three different problems on TikTok, and each one gets a different report reason. Choose the wrong one and a reviewer reads your report against the wrong rule. So sort the account first. It takes about thirty seconds on the profile itself.
Fake, impersonator or spam bot: which one is in front of you?
Look at what the account is trying to get from people. An impersonator borrows a real person's or brand's identity. A scam profile wants money or logins. A bot or fake-engagement account exists to inflate numbers or push links. TikTok's integrity and authenticity rules ban all three under deceptive behaviour, and the table maps each to its reason.
| What you see | Likely type | Reason to pick | Who can file |
|---|---|---|---|
| Your photos, name or logo, a near-identical @handle | Impersonator | Pretending to be someone, or the impersonation form | The person copied, or their representative |
| Giveaway, investment or "verify your account" messages | Scam profile | Fraud and scams | Anyone |
| Default avatar, digits in the handle, zero posts, mass follows | Bot or fake engagement | Spam | Anyone |
| A "fan" or "parody" label that is honest about it | Usually allowed | Only report a separate violation | Anyone |
One caution about the last row. When we reread those rules on 27 October 2026, we saw that the page allowed extra accounts for fan content and creative expression "but not to deceive others or break the rules." A clearly labelled fan page is not fake in TikTok's sense, so a report against it rarely lands.
How to report a fake TikTok account on phone, step by step
From the profile, not from a video. A video report is judged on that one clip, while an account report puts the whole profile in front of the reviewer, and a fake account is usually only obvious as a whole.
How to report a fake account on TikTok on iPhone
- Open the fake profile. If it messaged you, tap its name at the top of the chat.
- Tap the Share arrow in the top corner.
- Tap Report, then Report account.
- Choose the reason from the table above. For a copy of you, pick Pretending to be someone and say who is being copied.
- Add details if the screen asks, then tap Submit.
Screenshot the profile before step 2. Fake accounts often rename themselves or go private once reported, and a screenshot with the @handle and follower count is what you will need for any later form.
What changes on Android
Nothing that matters: the Share arrow, Report and Report account sit in the same order. Those same five taps answer how to report fake account on TikTok, how to report fake TikTok profiles and, because a TikTok "page" is just an account, how to report a fake TikTok page for a shop or creator. The broader menu for every other kind of report is in our guide to reporting someone on TikTok by what they did.
Can you report a fake TikTok account online, without the app?
Yes, two ways. Logged in on a computer, open the profile at tiktok.com, click the three-dot More options button beside the name, and the same Report account flow appears. Without any login, use the web forms.
- Feedback form. TikTok's online feedback form opens without signing in and has a "Report a potential violation" topic. Paste the profile URL and describe the problem plainly.
- Impersonation form. There are separate versions for accounts in the US and outside it. They ask for the fake @username and the real one, links or screenshots, and proof of identity such as a government ID.
That is how to report a fake TikTok account online if you deleted TikTok years ago, or if the fake has blocked you so the profile no longer opens in your app. Parents reporting an account that copies their child usually end up here, since the form has a branch for filing on behalf of someone you represent.
How to report a fake TikTok account anonymously, and when you can't
Not from an ordinary report. TikTok's reporting guide says it does not reveal the reporter to the account reported, and that notices to the creator leave reporter details out. So to report a fake TikTok account anonymously, use the in-app reasons or the feedback form.
The impersonation and intellectual-property forms work differently. They are legal-style claims, and your name or the details you submit can be passed to the account owner so they can answer. Weigh that before using them against someone who knows you. Most people asking how to report a fake TikTok account anonymously are dealing with an ex, a classmate or a former business partner, and for them the in-app Pretending to be someone reason is the quieter choice. Instagram handles the same question its own way, covered in whether Instagram tells people who reported them, and our separate page on TikTok report anonymity goes through comments, LIVEs and messages one by one.
What happens after a TikTok fake account report?
A review against the Community Guidelines, then one of three outcomes: nothing, a restriction, or a ban. TikTok may post an update to your inbox. Every report you have filed stays listed under Profile, Menu, Settings and privacy, Support, Safety Center, Report records. TikTok publishes no review time for account reports, so check that list rather than refiling every day.
We checked that path against TikTok's reporting guide on 27 October 2026, while writing this page. It was the only status screen the guide listed.
Scale explains the wait. TikTok removed 86,288,705 fake accounts between January and March 2026, according to ARY News coverage of TikTok's Q1 2026 enforcement report, published 7 July 2026. The quarter before, the figure was 147,716,518, per the Dhaka Tribune's report on Q4 2025. A single profile that slipped past that sweep still needs a person to flag it with the right reason, because nobody else may have noticed it.
Every TikTok report is free. There is no paid lane, and anyone selling "priority review" is selling nothing TikTok offers. If the result goes the wrong way, you cannot appeal on the fake account's behalf, but you can file again with new evidence. TikTok's reporting guide doesn't describe any way to withdraw a report once sent; on Instagram that question has its own answer in whether you can un-report an Instagram post.
Fake TikTok accounts following me: report, remove or go private?
Remove them, and report only the ones that do something. A bot that follows you and sits still costs you nothing but a slightly wrong follower count; reporting fifty of them one by one is an afternoon gone. The ones that message you links, copy your videos or comment the same line under every post are worth a report.
- Open your profile and tap Followers.
- Tap the three-dot icon next to the account and choose Remove this follower. From their profile, the Share arrow menu has the same option.
- Block any account that keeps coming back or sends messages. Blocking after reporting does not cancel the report.
- If the wave keeps going, switch to a private account in Settings and privacy, Privacy. New followers then need your approval.
A sudden wave of fake TikTok accounts following you is often the warm-up for a scam DM or, worse, a threat. If one of them starts asking for money or threatening to share images of you, stop replying and save everything; the evidence steps in our Instagram blackmail report guide apply on TikTok too.
When the same fake profile turns up on Instagram or X
Impersonators rarely stop at one app, and each platform asks for different proof. On Instagram, follow the steps for someone impersonating you on Instagram, or, for a copied business, reporting a fake Instagram business page. On X, the impersonation route is explained in how X reviews impersonation reports; a fake brand account is a trademark complaint on X; and a fake profile posting your home address belongs under X's doxxing report. For what X actually does next, read what gets an X account suspended and why nobody can delete someone else's X account.
Is there a fake Telegram channel using your TikTok name?
most often find a second fake: a channel with their name selling "exclusive" content. Run your handle through a Telegram username check and claim it before someone else does. If an account then offers to sell your own name back to you, how Telegram username sales really work shows why paying a stranger is a bad idea. And a fake that floods strangers with messages tends to hit Telegram's own anti-spam brakes, described in Telegram's limit-exceeded restriction.Start with the in-app report and the right reason today, screenshot first, and keep the impersonation form for when the account is copying you by name.
FAQ
Is it free to report a fake TikTok account?
Yes. Every TikTok report is free, whether you use the in-app Report account button, the feedback form or the impersonation form. TikTok has no paid or priority review, so treat anyone charging for a faster TikTok decision as a red flag.
How do I report a fake TikTok page pretending to be my business?
Report the account in the app with the Pretending to be someone reason, then file TikTok's impersonation form and choose the business option. A fake that uses your logo or brand name is also a trademark matter, so have your registration details ready.
Can I report a fake account that is copying someone else?
For spam, scams or fake engagement, yes: anyone can file those reasons. The impersonation form is different. TikTok acts on it only when the person copied, or someone legally authorised for them such as a parent, submits it.
Should I follow Reddit advice to get friends to mass-report a fake account?
No. TikTok reviews a report against its Community Guidelines, not by counting how many arrive, so one accurate report with the right reason does the work. Coordinated reporting adds nothing and can look like abuse of the report tool.
How long does TikTok take to act on a fake account report?
TikTok publishes no fixed time for account reports. Check Report records in the Safety Center for the status, and refile only if you have new evidence, such as fresh screenshots of the account messaging people.
Can a fake TikTok account come back after it is banned?
TikTok's rules say a banned or restricted user may not create or use another account to get around it, and TikTok may ban those new accounts too. If the same person reappears under a new handle, report the new profile and mention the old @username in the details.
Where can I see the fake account reports I already sent?
In the app, go to Profile, open the Menu, then Settings and privacy, Support, Safety Center, and tap Report records. Each report you filed is listed there with its status, so you can tell which fakes are still under review.
What if the fake account blocked me before I could report it?
Log out or use a browser where you are not signed in, open the profile link, and file the online feedback form with that URL. A blocked account cannot see you, but the form does not need you to see it in the app.
